Pots and pans.

Hey guys, and now like every week, check this out.

It is a perfect description of how industry uses technology in a very advance way to manufacture aluminum pots and pans. First, aluminum is a material with several good characteristics to become kitchen tools. Pots and pans are very interesting products because are objects that surround us every day of our entire life for making less complex our daily routines.

In fact I knew some ways of making this products in a very superficial way, also I knew about many possibilities to fabricate these products, but this video was different for me, a lot of human effort to make this process happen, machines and robots are very impressive, and now I share it to all of you.

When I saw it I was shocked about the complexity of how industry make this everyday products.

So, since today, when I see an aluminum pot and a pan I will make reverence to those who create them.

Recycling Aluminum

Check this out! It’s a very interesting video about aluminum cans recycling! And how this process is one of the most ecological in world! Aluminun can be recycled on its 100%, it’s a great raw material.

Aluminum recycling is the process by which scrap aluminum can be reused in products after its initial production. The process involves simply re-melting the metal, which is far less expensive and energy intensive than creating new. Recycling scrap aluminum requires only 5% of the energy used to make new aluminium.

Sources for recycled aluminium include foundries, aircraft, automobiles, bicycles, boats, computers, cookware, gutters, siding, wire and many other products that require a strong light weight material, or a material with high thermal conductivity. As recycling does not damage the metal’s structure, aluminium can be recycled indefinitely and still be used to produce any product for which new aluminium could have been used.

There are two kinds of molding in sand casting, one is commonly known as green sand casting and the other is known as air set sand castings. Both methods work by packing the mixture around a master patter for forming the mold cavity, the pattern is removed from the cavity and the final mold is formed by two parts generally called the cope and drag. The molten aluminum is poured then into de mold, when its time the sand mold is destroyed, obtaining like this the aluminum product in its first phase.

Aluminum castings can be made with many different techniques that work for different purposes. For a low to middle sized production the most recommendable in order to have competitive costs while maintaining a high quality will be to use sand casting or a permanent mold casting.

Sand aluminum castings are ideal for a low production, it allows a quick manufacture maintaining a low budget, it also offers the possibility of having a versatility in the production process since it would be relatively easy to make a change on the printing model.

Permanent mold castings are much better for a middle range production, it offers a higher fidelity on the aluminum product or part and it is also much faster to manufacture than other methods, with this kind of casting you will get high quality and control over your aluminum products.
